Week of February 27

This week we talked about art and parodies of art. On Tuesday we did an Jamboard in groups we picked an artist then searched different facts about them at the end of class. I was in group 3 and we did Andy Warhal. We found out he was born in Pittsburgh (which is where I am from) he has a museum that I go to sometimes and he moved to New York City to pursue his career after college.
Thursday we did art parody. I chose one of Andy Warhals painting which was his strawberry painting. He has 4 strawberries I traced 6. My plan is to trace characters from Spongebob Squarepants (Spongebob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs, Squidward, Sandy, and Plankton) in the strawberry and paint the strawberry the color of the character (example Patrick is pink so I would paint the strawberry pink). My background behind all of them is either going to be blue or the color of their houses (Patrick lives under a brown rock so I would paint his background brown) I have not made my decision about that yet. I took my poster back to my dorm to trace everything after I am finished tracing the characters that is when I will make my decision for my background for class on Monday.
Parodies of painting are a great thing to use in a classroom for students of all ages. If you give them a painting and say use your imagination and create something else they will definitely do it. You can do that anywhere whether it is in the classroom related to a topic you are talking about or it could be in art class. Parody painting is definitely something I will use in the classroom when I graduate.
