Week of February 13

This past week we spent both Tuesday and Thursday in the Stoner Building dancing. We did the Cha Cha Slide, the Cupid Shuffle, and Gangnam Style on Tuesday. On Thursday we did the Cha Cha slide, the Cupid Shuffle, and songs from The Sound of Music. I honestly think songs that give direction on what moves to make like the Cha Cha Slide or to Hokey Pokey are the best songs for children to dance to. The Cupid Shuffle works too but it does not start giving directions on what moves to make until later in the song. When it came to the songs from The Sound of Music we ended up creating our moves to parts we were assigned to from "These Are a Few of My Favorite Things". Creating moves to a song is a good activity for children in elementary school starting in first grade. It could be appropriate for children in kindergarten depending on what song it is like the itsy bitsy spider. With students in first grade a good song they can create moves to is Pompeii by Bastille or Counting Star...

Week of Feburary 6th

In the video we watched on Thursday '100 Languages of Children' I thought that it was about 100 different languages but it turned out to be different ways that children can learn in school. I related to the dance part because I did dance class from preschool to 4th grade. I eventually quit to play basketball and volleyball which I wish I never did. I think my favorite part of the video was how they let the children create the background when they put on plays.

Week of January 30- Painting Rocks

I had fun painting rocks on Monday. I loved that the preschoolers came on Wednesday to see our rocks. Yes some of their opinions were hurtful bur it was still cute
